8 Bible Verses for Labor Day

Labor Day Bible Verses

The Labor Day holiday is an opportunity to celebrate the American worker. A worthy holiday indeed! But what does the Bible say about work? Let’s take a look!

Here are some of our favorite Bible verses to reflect upon this Labor Day weekend.

Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.

– Exodus 20:8-10 [ESV]

Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.

– Deuteronomy 15:10 [NIV]

You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.

– Psalm 128:2 [ESV]

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

– Colossians 3:23 [KJV]

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

– Matthew 11:28 [NKJV]

For this reason we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.

– 1 Timothy 4:10 [CSB]

So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?

– Ecclesiastes 3:22 [NIV]

You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How joyful and prosperous you will be!

– Psalm 128:2 [NLT]
